My export is stuck on "pending"

Pending is normal while your export builds; learn when it resolves, what failed/expired mean, and the 30-day expiry window.

My export is stuck on "pending"

This is normal for the first few minutes after you request an export. Your export is generated in the background, and "pending" simply means the job is still running — you don't need to keep the page open or refresh it yourself. ATTRIBUT emails you as soon as the archive is ready to download.

Why exports take a few minutes

When you select Generate export on the Preferences page, ATTRIBUT doesn't build the archive on the spot. It creates a record for your export and hands the work off to a background job that pulls together your full attribution history — sessions, costs, and evidence — into a CSV + JSON archive. While that job runs, the export's status shows as pending.

You can check the current status any time under Preferences → Data & privacy → Export your data. While an export is pending, that page checks automatically in the background and updates itself the moment the job finishes — no manual refresh needed.

What each status means

  • Pending — the export is being generated; this is temporary.

  • Ready — the archive finished and is available to download.

  • Failed — the job didn't complete; generate a new export to retry.

  • Expired — the archive passed its 30-day availability window; generate a new export.

When to actually worry

A brief "pending" period is expected. If the underlying job crashes instead of finishing normally, ATTRIBUT automatically detects the stuck export and flips it to failed so you're never left waiting indefinitely without an answer. Once that happens, the "Export your data" row shows "Last export failed" along with a note that something went wrong preparing your archive, plus a Generate export button so you can try again immediately.

Only reach out to support if you see the failed state and a fresh attempt also fails, or if an export has sat at "pending" far longer than the few minutes a normal export takes.

Only one export at a time

ATTRIBUT allows one export in progress per account. If you request a new export while one is already pending, you'll see a message that an export is already being prepared instead of a second job starting. Wait for the current one to finish (or fail) before generating another.

Exports expire after 30 days

Once an export is ready, the archive is kept for 30 days from when it was generated, and only your most recent export is available at a time. The "Export your data" row shows the exact expiration date and time in a footer note beneath the download button, marked with a clock icon. After that date passes, the archive is no longer available and the row shows "Export expired" — simply generate a new one whenever you need a current copy of your data.
